Seventeen-year-old Maja marries fisherman Janne against her will. Her life on Stormskäret is full of challenges and setbacks. As a fisherman’s wife, she has to fend for herself and her family when her husband is at sea. This is the kind of film that wins the Best Film category in every competition. It’s almost unnoticed by those who were surprised. It’s inserted into a historical context, so when we look back we see the children we once were. The story is told from a shared point of view with an attempt to bring out feelings that don’t explode, are ready to stay with us and maintain relationships until we die. There is folklore, current mythology, and neofolklore is also developing. Because cinema is a new way of telling stories. It has to be seen directed by a more mature viewer. I hope it will be noticed more.
